"I Used to be Able to Hear Differing Opinions" from Illinois

One of the most overused talking points from folks on the Right is the baseless idea that the mainstream media is a "liberal media". Yesterday, a caller from Illinois expressed dismay at the fact that many (she claimed 90%) media outlets are owned by conservatives. She also goes on to reminisce about the "old days" when one could turn on the radio and hear different viewpoints, as opposed to today's hyper-partisan, junk politics. Lastly, the caller offers her take on President Trump.

"Is There Any Press That You Trust?"

May 10, 2017: Late in today's Washington Journal, a caller asserted that he did not trust the press. While this is a common theme among folks who call into the show, and so, nothing new, he was then pressed by rotating host John McArdle about whether there was any press that he trusted, and asked where he got his news. The caller responded that he only trusted "you guys" (C-Span's Washington Journal).

What is particularly amusing about this is the lack of awareness of the caller. After all, Washington Journal bases its show off of stories and headlines published by newspapers like the New York Times, the Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal. Are they not the press?
